This life is important and infinitely so when we consider it is the time and place in which we determine where we will spend eternity. But life is infinitesimally small compared to the infinite expanse and scope of eternity. What we do here, the pleasures we enjoy, all pale in comparison to the incomprehensible joy awaiting us in the future. Someday, 10,000 years from now, all of life’s struggles will be seen from a new perspective as we have coffee with Jesus overlooking the rings of Saturn (or some-such)! In that moment I will see all of life’s trials and hardships in light of Jesus and who I have become in Him.
Where will you be 10,000 years from now? Christians sing, “When we’ve been there 10,000 years bright shining as the sun! We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we first begun!” Do we really appreciate what these words mean? Have you let them “soak” into your soul? Eternity is forever and, for the believer in Christ, it is a never ending party. There will never be an interruption of the festivities as we praise and enjoy God; as we enjoy all He has prepared for us in Heaven. Are you a follower of Christ? Are you ready?
Jesus told His disciples in John 14 that He would leave earth to prepare a place for them in eternity. Heaven is a “prepared place” which Jesus called “Paradise.” What an incredible future Christians have in Christ!
Someday, time will be no more and the counting of days, months and years will be gone. But, to put it in the finite, earthly terms we understand today, how about we all agree to have coffee together with Jesus 10,000 years from today? How about we put that on our “eternal calendars?” Let’s agree to laugh and reminisce about all that March 8, 2017 had in store for each of us.
Grab hold of this moment and live it in light of what it may one day be; a memory to be enjoyed in eternity! Live in such a way that the events of this day might become something to boast about in Christ! Live, really live, for Jesus and eternity. Then one day we will enjoy reminiscing, with God and one another, about the adventures lived in Him. And we will do so over a cup of heavenly coffee; a coffee Starbucks could never touch!
