Is it just me or does it seem the world is burning down around us. There was a time when elections mattered but were never the life and death struggle they appear to be of late. Even when one’s candidate lost you knew there was another chance in 4 years. You simply “battened down the hatches” and weathered your party’s time outside of power. Today, there seems to be a fierce revulsion to EVER enduring your party out of power. There is a actually a determined effort underway to not only undermine but end the Trump presidency.
Once there was a time when we elected a president and he became “our” president regardless of party affiliation. I think such a day passed away somewhere between the Reagan and Clinton administrations. The country began to see itself as irrevocably divided with little or no common ground in which to find unity.
We struggle to find common ground with one another today simply because our nation lacks a common worldview. Once, the American people held to a predominantly Christian worldview and this united us regardless of whether everyone was actually a Christian or not. The barrage of multiculturalism and syncretism has left our nation with a weakened culture and far from anything resembling a consensus on important moral questions which Christianity once answered. Our problem isn’t politics but religion.
If we are to ever survive as a nation we must know our common history, value the precious jewels that history taught us and agree on a moral authority from which to be governed. Apart from these we will eventually implode. Anyone who thinks such a thing impossible knows nothing of history at all.
Revival of God’s church and salvation for the lost are what mankind needs right now. If such happens within the borders of the United States the byproduct will be the preservation of our nation as well. We fail everywhere if we fail to repent, pray and seek God first…
