God has created so many beautiful places and things to see. Have you ever wondered why He gave such attention to detail while creating everything? He could have made a world without the wonders of a Yosemite or Grand Canyon but He didn’t. He made these magnificent wonders as well as the Rocky mountains, blue waters of the Caribbean sea, hot springs of Iceland and peaks of the Himalayan mountains. Just look at the bald eagle or a red rose and you realize something of the many intricacies of God’s imagination and creativity.
We look at a Monet or Matisse and believe we are seeing creativity at it’s finest and in some capacity we are doing just that. These men were creative geniuses as far as the human capacity for such. But God created each of these men, along with Beethoven, Mozart, Michael Angelo and a host of other men and women, with the gift of creativity. The very capacity for creation and creativity is something birthed in the heart of God and given to mankind. Some of us are given an extra dose in the arts and for this the rest of mankind gives thanks. Our world would be grey, cold and boring without these special people in our life.
The incredible talent of a Pacino, Hanks, Hopkins, Nicholson, Streep, Hepburn or Davis is no less a thing of beauty than that produced by Picaso or Van Gogh. Each person created in a unique way with special gifts to share with the world into which they were born.
WHAT ABOUT YOU???
But creativity doesn’t begin or end in a studio or on a stage. All of us are created with special and unique offerings if we are willing to see them for what they are and use them in the ways God intended. I can’t act like Jack Nicholson or sing like Pavorotti but I can write, preach and pastor. These are the things God has gifted me to do. He has asked me to share these gifts, my gifts, with the world. When I do this I am allowing others an opportunity to enjoy the gifts God has given me and to see something of God’s power and creativity as well.
God spent so much time being creative when He made the universe because the whole of creation is a testament to His existence, character and power. Every time we use our gifts to be “who we are” and demonstrate the uniqueness of our life we are showing others something of the God who created us. Any good thing is a gift from God. Every good and perfect gift comes from Him.
The Apostle Paul said there is no excuse for those who deny the existence of God because creation screams of His existence and the enormity of His power. But, in order to appreciate this testimony we must be willing to “stop and smell the roses.” Be willing to see something more than beautiful scenery, paintings, songs, sermons, carpentry and masonry. We must have a willingness to see the places and people around us as a product of divine purpose and creativity.
Even the “ugly” around us tell us something of God’s patience and grace as He gives such places and people time to both contrast the good as well as opportunity to become good themselves. All of us work together for a great plan; a great story in the heart and mind of God.
What part of God’s story are you playing today? The realization of such an opportunity makes the most mundane of tasks the chance for something beautiful, wonderful and significant. Don’t miss your chance!
